"FOOTSTEPS" a painting with Watercolour on Imperial size (22x30 inches) Fabriano Studio, 300 gsm (140 lb.) Cold Press Watercolour paper.

This painting is an inspiration from the Tingatinga style of painting. The name Tingatinga style is after the founder Edward Said Tingatinga. This is traditionally painted on a Masonite board using bicycle paints. The paintings are of small sizes and are meant for tourists travelling to the regions of Tanzania, Kenya, and neighbouring countries. The subjects covered were Elephants, Rhinoceros, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard, and other wild fauna. Later on, subjects included busy streets, markets, and urban locales.

The origin of this art form is wall paintings on the walls of rural African huts which has a connection to the traditional rock painting which dates back to the Stone Age of Africa. Some art historians are of the view that the origin is from Mozambique and others are of the view that its origin is Congo.

More paintings in the Tingatinga style will be available on this website.
